• 1641 – Built as Jesuit monastery, but it is thought that construction was never completed
  • 1749 – First University of Panama – Royal Pontifical University of San Javier
  • 1767 – The Spanish banished the Jesuits from the Colonies and the church was abandoned
  • 1781 – The complex burned down
  • 1882 – Further damaged during an earthquake
  • 1983 – Panama’s government restored the ruins of the convent but it is again undergoing reconstruction
