• 1760 – Built for Paul Gongora Caceres, a prominent Spanish pearl merchant
  • Only example of domestic colonial architecture of the 18th century
  • It then became a church and has now been turned into a small, bare-bones museum
  • Been through three fires and current wooden roof is new. A 20th-century restoration attempt was botched, causing more damage
  • 1998-99 – Restored with local labour, keeping the ancient woodworking (doors, balconies and armour)
  • The building retains its original layout and belongs to the Municipality of Panama
  • Now home to the Casa de la Cultura y del Artista Panameño, a cultural center for local artists, with occasional live jazz music, folkloric presentations, fashion shows, and changing art exhibitions
